Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas meet with Jewish Leaders - May 26, 2005.

S. Daniel Abraham and the Center for Middle East Peace & Economic Cooperation are pleased to have had the opportunity to host Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on his first Presidential visit to the United States, giving him the opportunity to express his views to members of the Jewish community.

President Abbas expressed his commitment to non-violence and a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He highlighted his intent to work toward a peaceful, independent, democratic Palestinian State alongside a secure Israel in accordance with President George W. Bush’s vision.

Members of the Jewish leadership expressed their appreciation for the courageous steps toward calm and peace taken by President Abbas, and further inquired about Palestinian obligations regarding security and the political process.

The Center for Middle East Peace & Economic Cooperation does anything in its ability to encourage a peaceful resolution to the Arab-Israeli conflict and further understanding between Jews and Arabs.  Established in 1989 by then-Slim Fast Foods Chairman S. Daniel Abraham and then-Utah Congressman Wayne Owens, the Center is a private, non-profit, non-partisan organization.

 

Racing the Clock: Seminar Report President William J. Clinton's remarks at the tribute dinner

On April 19, 2004, the Center for Middle East Peace & Economic Cooperation, co-sponsored - together with Tel Aviv University, New York University and Columbia University - a seminar titled "Racing the Clock: The Quest to end the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict," which featured former U.S. President William J. Clinton. Ambassador Edward Djerejian moderated the discussion, which included Mr. S. Daniel Abraham, Ambassador Bisher al-Khasawneh, Dr. Osama El-Baz, MK Isaac Herzog, Ambassador Martin Indyk, Mr. Orni Petruschka, TAU President Itamar Rabinovich, MK Gideon Sa'ar, Dr. Shibley Telhami, and Mr. Mortimer Zuckerman.
